Short term disability

If an employee is prevented from performing their work due to occupational disability, Medtronic pays the full salary during the first year of sickness. In the second year of sickness, the disability benefit is supplemented to 70% of last salary paid.

Long term disability

If an employee is prevented from performing their work for more than 2 years, Medtronic offers the following long term disability benefits. Medtronic offers employees the opportunity to voluntarily join a group WGA gap insurance scheme (Return to Work Scheme for the Partially Disabled).

WIA excess insurance

Medtronic provides a WIA insurance for employees with a base salary higher than the maximum year salary. The premium for this insurance is paid by Medtronic.

Accident insurance

All employees are covered by a group accident insurance. In case of death, the next of kin receives a payment of one time annual salary of the employee and in case of permanent (and complete) disability, the employee will receive a maximum benefit of two times the annual salary. In case of partial disability, the employee receives a proportional payment. The premium for this insurance paid in full by Medtronic.

Life Insurance

In the event of death of an employee, the surviving relatives will receive a lump sum payment.

ANW gap insurance

Medtronic offers married or co-habiting employees the opportunity to voluntarily join ANW gap insurance. The cost of this insurance is employee paid.

Medical insurance

Medtronic employees in the Netherlands can avail of discounted rates on supplemental and dental insurance.

Vacation leave

Employees are entitled to 28 vacation days per year. Employees have the option to buy & sell vacation leave. Employees are also awarded extra vacation days due to seniority/age.

Gym

Medtronic employees can avail of a discount on subscription costs to selected sports clubs

Pension & savings

Pension

The Medtronic retirement plan is a defined contribution scheme whereby all contributions are paid into the employees personal pension account and accumulate with investment until retirement.

Generation pact

This benefit allows eligible employees to work 80%, receive 90% salary and 100% pension accrual (based on the contract hours prior to joining the benefit). Employees who are no more than four years before their state pension age may be eligible to participate.

Employee Stock Purchase Plan

As a Medtronic employee you can avail of the Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP), where you can purchase Medtronic stock each calendar quarter at a discounted rate. It is an opportunity to share in the success of Medtronic.

Allowances

  • Holiday Allowance – 8% of annual salary paid out with May salary.
  • Travel Allowance – allowance towards travel between home and work location.
  • Car Allowance – Jobs needs basis or perquisite basis.
  • Reimbursement for Public Transport.

Private lease

Medtronic partners with a vendor to offer a private lease benefit in which:

  • Employees pay a fixed monthly charge to cover private use of the car.
  • Employees taxable income is not raised to account for private use of the car.
  • Employees do not need to pay the usual costs associated with car ownership, such as road tax, maintenance, repairs and insurance.

Trade union fee

Medtronic offers employees the opportunity to pay the fees for membership of a trade union from the gross salary, within the limits of tax legislation.

Collective insurance

Medtronic employees can avail of discounts with selected insurers on the following

  • 10% on car insurance.
  • 8% on home insurance.
  • 8% on liability insurance.

Operations incentive plan

In addition to your base salary, regular employees are eligible for a short-term incentive plan. Short-time incentives are based on role and targets vary by job level. Payouts vary based on Medtronic, team and individual performance and achievement of specific objectives. You will receive details about eligible incentives from your Talent Acquisition Partner.
