Health & well-being

Life insurance

Medtronic provides life insurance which is 100% Medtronic paid. In the event of death or total, permanent disability a benefit will be paid to the designated beneficiary. All regular employees with a permanent work location in Colombia are eligible for this benefit. Interns and employees with a temporary contract are not eligible.

Medical insurance

Medical insurance provides coverage for health care that is cost effective for employees and their family. All regular, temporary and expatriate employees with a work location in Colombia are eligible for this benefit.  Interns and employees with a temporary contract are not eligible. Employees may cover their spouse and up to 3 eligible children, up to the age of 25, under the plan. This is divided in 80% paid by Medtronic and 20% covered by the employee.

Dental insurance

Shared Services Center only

Dental insurance provides a comprehensive plan with a broad network of nationwide affiliated clinics and providers. All regular employees with a permanent work location in Medtronic Colombia Shared Services Americas S.A.S. organization are eligible for this benefit. Interns and employees with a temporary contract are not eligible. A spouse/domestic partner and children under the age of 25 can be covered. The cost of the benefit is covered 100% by the employee.


Commercial only

Dental insurance provides coverage for oral health care that is cost effective for employees and their beneficiaries. All regular employees with a permanent work location in the Colombia Commercial organization (Medtronic Colombia S.A.) are eligible for this benefit. Interns and employees with a temporary contract are not eligible. Up to 3 eligible dependents may also be covered regardless of the degree of consanguinity or affinity.

Funeral insurance

Employees can select coverage for themselves or other beneficiaries to provide protection from the expenses related to a death. Covered expenses include funeral services, cremation or burial, and repatriation of any remains. Coverage also includes a life insurance benefit. All regular employees with a permanent work location in Colombia are eligible for this benefit.

Interns and employees with a temporary contract are not eligible.

Employees may add coverage for up to nine beneficiaries for the same cost, including:

• Spouse or permanent partner with no age limit.

• Child(ren) from 6 months up to 65 years of age and step-children.

• Parents and in-laws, grandparents and siblings.

• Aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and others.

An additional tenth beneficiary may be included for an additional cost. To add this additional beneficiary please contact the provider directly.

Gym

Employees have unlimited entry to Smart Fit locations in Colombia and Latin America supporting physical activity and good health. All regular employees with a permanent work location in Colombia are eligible for this benefit. Interns and employees with a temporary contract are not eligible. This benefit is only for the employee and is not extended to dependents. Benefits provided by Smart Fit under the Corporate VIP Black plan and Medtronic pays 80% and employee pay 20% of the cost.

Pension & savings

Employee fund

Employees can save from 2%+ of their salary in the employee fund. Employees will also have information available about free investment credits, home buying, portfolio buying, vehicle buying and more. All regular employees with a permanent work location in Colombia are eligible for this benefit. Interns and employees with a temporary contract are not eligible. Employees can select a standard monthly savings from 2% to 10% of their salary and will be able to add an additional voluntary savings percentage. It’s possible to modify the maximum savings percentage twice a year. The employee fund is able to offer credits for free investment, home purchase, education, portfolio purchase, and vehicle purchase, among others.

Employee Stock Purchase Plan

As a Medtronic employee you can avail of the Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP), where you can purchase Medtronic stock each calendar quarter at a discounted rate. It is an opportunity to share in the success of Medtronic.

There are 15 days available for vacations per worked year and 1 family day per semester. In addition to the local legal requirements, Medtronic offers:

• Birthday: Grant the employee a paid leave day for his birthday.

• Marriage leave: Grant the employee a few days of paid rest in the new stage of family consolidation.

• Extended maternity: Provide the employee with a work-life balance after the birth or adoption of a child.

• Sick leave coverage: Grant the employee a 100% of the payment salary during the sick leave status from 3 days until 180 days.

Car insurance

Employees have the opportunity to purchase an insurance policy for their vehicle at a special rate. All regular employees with a permanent work location in the Colombia Commercial and SSC organization (Medtronic Colombia S.A. & Medtronic Colombia Shared Services Americas S.A.S.) are eligible for this benefit. Interns and employees with a temporary contract are not eligible.

Pet medical insurance provides veterinary care for an employees dogs and cats. All regular employees with a permanent work location in Medtronic Colombia Shared Services Americas S.A.S. organization are eligible for this benefit. Interns and employees with a temporary contract are not eligible. The cost of the benefit is covered 100% by the employee.
